NHRC CHAIRMAN ANNOUNCES (FORUM ON UNIVERSAL DECLARAION OF HUMAN DIGNITY), HH SH MOZA SPONSORS FORUM & NHRC CONDUCTING RESEARCH ON RIGHTS OF CHILDREN BORN BY QATARI WOMEN MARRIED TO NON-QATARIES

Doha on February 18 agencies / AT a news conference held at NHRC HQ yesterday (Wednesday, 17.2.2010) His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri-NHRC Chairman announced that NHRC will hold on twenty-second of February a forum on the draft document of (the Universal Declaration of human dignity).

The Chairman also announced that Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al - wife of His Highness the Emir of Qatar - will sponsor the seminar. The Chairman meanwhile revealed that the NHRC in conducting two studies: one on the "stateless" residents in Qatar and the other on the "rights of the Children of Qatari ladies born to non-Qataries and how these children can get rights equal to those of ordinary citizens particularly with regard to education, health, housing and employment.

The Forum will be held the Four Seasons in three sessions, topics and issues related to the Universal Declaration of human dignity as well as for an open discussion of this declaration. It is expected to issue its final findings in the evening on the same day.

Dr. Mary Robinson, former High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations will address the forum as well as Dr. Ali Ben Smaikh al-Marri .
